Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Scalzi Park - the largest recreational area within the Stamford city limits. It features tennis, basketball, volleyball courts, and baseball and softball fields, running and hiking trails as well as a bocce ball arena. It also houses Cubeta Stadium, which is home to the Stamford American Legion baseball squad.

The park is dedicated to John Scalzi who lived in the 1920s and 30s and was quite the sportsman, playing baseball, football and basketball, and who made it all the way into the pro leagues in the first of these, with the Boston Braves, although apparently an arm injury made his tenure very short.

The beauty of this park is that rain or shine, you always see people round and about, engaged in some sort of physical activity, Whether it's a game of baseball, volleyball, football, soccer, or tennis, or just taking a stroll around the park alone, or with a friend. The newly-rebuilt playground with its water fountains is especially popular during the summer time.

This park is within walking distance from downtown with ample parking near the entrance and further, next to the tennis courts and behind the football field.

Park and grab! Stick around to watch a baseball game!
PLEASE REPLACE UPSIDE DOWN SO LOG DOES NOT GET WET!
