X-Wing fighters are used for many uses. Mainly it is used as a fighting ship.
X-Wings are first used as Jedi starships in Episode II. Then they started to produce these for clone troopers by Episode III. Between II and IV, they are sold to part dealers in the Outer Rim. A Rebel saw the ship and had his men make these for the war. As time would have it, Luke Skywalker was using a X-Wing as a Jedi.
