Frederick Peak at 679 metres, stands like a large tooth on the Hervey Range east of Townsville.
The local climbing club have some routes along the face of the peak. To claim this letterbox you will just need to get close to the peak.
From the listed coordinates travel 2442 metres at 101 degrees until you reach a gate. At this gate you will find some permanent letters inside an angle. Calculate the sum of letter values, this sum will take you the last part to the cache.
Call the sum you just calculated B, the distance is B * B * 2 + 6 * B - 4 metres. The degrees are B * 7 - 3.2
The cache is a black PVC tube, inside you find a FTF price, a stamp and a spare as well as a log book.
Depending on your mode of transport the terrain rating for this cache will range from 1.5 to 3, as few will qualify for the low terrain I have rated it as a T3.
Geochecker for the final:
2024 update: Due to changes in access, Granitevale Road is no longer an option. Instead access can be achieved on Gumlow/Moncrieff Road. Turn right at the quarry gate. 4WD strongly recommended. Park at the fencline and then follow the track on foot from the barb wire fence.
