Geocache Description:

The Pioneers in Czechoslovakia between 1968 and 1989 were a significant symbol of communist dictatorship. They were the role models for other boys and girls, they were hardworking, disciplined and respectful of their surroundings. Becoming a pioneer was voluntary but mandatory.

The Soviet Union used the movement to show the world how organised and well behaved their countries were. The Pioneers often stood guard by statues of political leaders and heroes. A common activity was collecting old paper. It became a competition and the winning team got a prize, interest of media and better job offers later in life. Creating friendship with other youths was highly recommended but only from officially approved countries, as the Soviet Union wanted full control over the lives of the people. After the regime fell, the dissolution of the Pioneers was debated. The resulting compromise was a total reform of the movement. You are looking for a magnetic small film canister.
