Geocache Description:

Jerome Lester Horwitz, A.K.A. Jerome Howard, A.K.A. Babe, A.K.A. Curly. A cache dedicated to one of his personal passions: Dogs.

Crazy about dogs, Curly enjoyed playing with his beloved pets, among them a collie named "Lady" and two other canines named "Salty" and "Shorty." He  often brought stray dogs home with him from traveling.

According to "Curly: An Illustrated biography of the Superstooge", By Joan Howard Maurer, Moe Howard's daughter, it was hard to forget the incredible variety of dogs that Curly had. She recalls cocker spaniels, miniature schnauzers, a boxer, and two different collies. Some of them "barked their brains out", some "bit and snapped". But all of them were "one man" dogs, and loved only Curly. To Curly, a canine companion made minimal demands, was always affectionate, cost very little money to care for, and was forever loyal.

In 1950, his health deteriorating, Curly was sent to the Motion Picture Home, a nursing home for Hollywood celebrities. Missing his pal, the collie "Lady," Curly asked Moe if he could bring the dog to stay with him at the hospital. (Curly liked sleeping with the dog when he was at home.) Sadly, when Moe brought Lady to see Curly, the reticent dog refused to enter Curly's hospital room, staying outside in the doorway.

I have to imagine that Curly would love to absorb the countless internet images and videos of dogs available today.
