Running out of places to hide this, so had to place it up high. Bring a tall person. If you cannot reach, just mention in your log and count as a find. Do not push it up so high that no one else can reach it.

The first Lucky Lager brewery was established by the General Brewing Corporation of San Francisco on 31 August, 1933. Julius Kerber was the original brew master. Kerber was a graduate of three brewery colleges in Germany and a resident of the U.S. since 1900.

The company's president, Baron Paul von Gontard, was the grandson of Adolphus Busch (of Busch beer), and was given the title of president to add prestige to to the company's masthead, since he wasn't a stockholder. His Anheuser-Busch connection was touted, and greatly helped promote the new enterprise. However, after less than a year as president he was replaced by the head brew master, Kerber.

Kerber's tenure as president and general manager was also brief. In January of 1936, after less than a year in the leadership position, he unexpectedly died. The company's secretary/treasurer, Eugene S. Selvage, now became president of the company. He would occupy this position for twenty five years. After WWII and post-prohibition, Lucky Lager became the best selling beer in California.

Lucky Lager beer has a large cult following on Van Couver Island in Victoria, Canada, where it was brewed until 1982. Labatt Breweries of Canada moved off the Island and tore down the brewery to prevent any competition on the Island. Labatt now brews Lucky Lager out of Edmonton, Alberta, in the same brewery where they produce Budweiser for all of Western Canada. Currently, brewing and distribution in the USA are owned by the Pabst Brewing Company.
