The Porter farm, "Holmwood" was sold in the 1970's, and Brisbane City Council purchased part of the property to develop Meadowlands and Minnippi Parklands. The first stage of Minnippi Parklands is set on land known locally as Porter's Paddock, and the community recreation area continues to be known as Porter's Paddock.
The new Parklands feature walking tracks, natural bush, lakes, BBQs and a make believe playspace for children. This playspace is unique in that it was developed around the theme "The Dream of Flight", and was designed with the help of the community. It features an "Icaroplane" and is a tribute to early aviators such as Stan Porter.
This cache has been placed in bushland near the Model Aero Cub's airfield.
Although this cache is suitable for children, you should be vigilant whenever in the bush as it is home to many creatures, some of whom won't take kindly to being disturbed. Be careful of barbed wire.
