It was the 27th of April and we decided to do a bit of trail running on this Freedom Day. As we came past cache GC64HGA we noticed this concrete road and enjoyed a fast downhill run on a good road surface, it felt like a road race and I thought, yeah, this is the long road to freedom!
But it was not to be, after a kilometre or so we came to a gate and had to turn around and took a slow run back up again.
Nevertheless, we decided to leave a cache behind for those adventures cachers who like to explore the mountains, hidden trails and roads and maybe a good view or two.
Please note:
You have to park at the top of Sir Lowry’s pass parking area, see parking co-ords, and according to signs you are not allowed to drive around the Steenbras mountains area and usually the road is locked by means of a chain anyway.
This cache is at a very isolated place and I highly recommend hiking/running/cycling in a group, please be aware of your surroundings/weather conditions at all times, do not compromise your safety! Do not attempt this cache at night.
