Geocache Description:

This is the eleventh of a little series I have decided to place in commemoration (or sometimes celebration) of pubs that have disappeared.

When I was a student, I worked at a warehouse at Minimax Corner, so sometimes we used to drink here after work had finished. It was close to work, which was a positive, but I can't think of anything else good about it.

Here is an interesting fact about the Black Dog.....

Harvey Sauce (Or Lazenby's Sauce) was a spicy liquid condiment sauce. A 'rotten fish' sauce - based on anchovies

It is said to have been invented in 1760 by Peter Harvey, owner of the Black Dog Inn here in Bedfont, Middlesex. A certain London grocer, M. Lazenby, offered to buy the rights to it but was refused. Lazenby later married married Harvey's sister, Elizabeth, and as a wedding present, Peter Harvey gave Elizabeth the recipe

Although the recipe was kept as a secret, a version of it was published in the USA in 1851 in 'Miss Leslie's Directions for Cookery', and in England in Hartley 1954.

The (Old) Black Dog pub you see in the photo from 1967 was pulled down and replaced by a 'stylish' modern building in 1968. The replacement pub (pictured in 1975) is how I remember it and this was pulled down in the early 1990s and replaced by ..... you guessed it...... flats. (Charter Court)

At the published coordinates you should be standing on a BT manhole cover with the following markings.
