Charging Bull, a.k.a. The Wall Street Bull is one of the world’s most famous (and most frequently-photographed) representatives of the bovine brigade. Sculptor Arturo Di Modica created Charging Bull at a cost of $360,000. He delivered his "gift" to the people of New York, placing it in front of the New York Stock Exchange on December 15, 1989 under the Christmas tree. The Stock Exchange didn't appreciate the gesture and had police remove the piece. The ensuing public outcry caused the NYSE to free Charging Bull from his incarceration. He now spends his time in Bowling Green Park, close to the heart of Manhattan’s stock exchange. He’s so well-known that he’s become a symbol of Wall Street and commerce in New York City, showing up in locations like news broadcasts, political cartoons, and vacation photos
The idea of this series is a community project honoring the Bos among us.
As you drive the road, please feel free to place your own tribute cache to that great animal- the cow.
