The Sweetwater Beach can be accessed by two ways: With a boattrip or hiking
Either you take a boat from Chora Sfakion (several times a day in summer offered by local boat owners) or you can hike from Chora Sfakion or from Loutro.
The quickest way to the cache is from the first hairpin bend after Chora Sfakion at the road to Anopoli. The path might not be suitable for people with vertigo as you walk on a very narrow path on the top of a 60 meter high cliff with a spectacular view into deep blue water. The path is well prepared with flat stones and some stairs which makes it pretty safe but hiking shoes are recommended anyway. It will take only about 20min from the road to get down to the beach.
Highly recommended is to walk the entire path from Chora Sfakion to Loutro (about 7km and 2,5 hours walking time) which is part of the European trail E4. Between Loutro and Chora Sfakion there are several public ferries a day (6 EUR one way)
There is a small tavern on the beach and a spring with potable water.
Some trees provide a bit of shade and the sea is usually crystal clear. In summer time it might be a bit crowded by tourists.
From the mountains a big amount of water is streamin into the sea just a few centimeters below the beach surface. If you dig into the gravel you will quickly find potable water
The cache - a plastic container that can take also TBs and small items - is located just at the eastern end of the beach next to the hiking path. As many hikers are passing that place please hide it carefully again and place some rocks in front of it.
