Geocache Description:

Speedwell is a low growing plant with beautiful, blue flowers. There's a nice patch of it along the trail 22 steps beyond GZ. I hope you make a point of admiring it.

Speedwell is a flower I remeber recognizing as a toddler. I was fascinated by the name, which in Swedish is "Mormor's glasögon". "Grandma's glasses" in translation. (The direct translation is "Mother's mother's glass eyes".) The blue flowers come in pairs and look right at you.

Veronica filiformis is a species of flowering plant in the genus Veronica. It is known by many common names, including slender speedwell, creeping speedwell, threadstalk speedwell and Whetzel weed. It is native to eastern Europe and western Asia, and it is known in many other regions as an introduced species and a common weed.

In Ireland, the plant was sewn into the clothing of travellers for good luck.

It was introduced to the United States nursery trade in the 1920s[7] and is now generally considered a weed.[6] It can be invading of lawns, sod, and turf, and has become naturalised in gardens and grassy paths and on roadsides.[6] It prefers shade, moist soils, good fertility and a low mowing height, and due to the speed at which is spreads, it is often necessary to use herbicides to remove it.

The cache is a "small" camoed pill bottle, tied in. It only has a rolled log with rubber band and a tiny zip lock bag to keep it dry. Please put the rubber band on your finger while you log, so you don't risk losing it. BYOP.
