Geocache Description:

Paddle cache located along the Powhatan Creek Blueway. Accessible by water only.

A wise old man overlooks these waters. He stands at a heading of 220° approximately 325 feet away from his neighbors at the cache location. Even though the solitude of Powhatan Creek has remained fairly unchanged for centuries, this old man likely has many stories to tell.

Powhatan Creek is a 23 mile tributary of the James River. The Blueway has two access points. One located on Jamestown Road (free access - dawn to dusk) and the other at the James City County Marina ($3.00 ramp fee - 24/7 access) near the Jamestown Settlement. Kayak rentals (and bike rentals for the nearby Virginia Capital Trail) are available at the JCC Marina. Tidal information is available HERE. It is suggested to arrive at your selected put-in approximately 2 hours prior to high tide if caching the entire series.
