Geocache Description:

A hilltop cache in the Nagles mountains.

This mountain has the same name as another less than twenty miles away, and in plain sight of each other - how mad is that? Seefin 1 is in Ballyhoura to the north, (cache GC27H8W). And a few more Irish mountains have the same name!! Seefin means Seat of Fionn (Mac Cumhaill) - a mythical hunter-warrier.

There is a large cairn at the summit. It would be great if Seefin 1 were visible from the cairn, but neither it or much else is, as the whole mountain is covered in trees. Views are available only where the trees are very young or have been harvested. The cairn is surrounded by trees, which is a bit spooky, especially in the mist.

There are two routes to GZ from the Parking waypoint. The quickest is along a rough east-west path from the Direct Way waypoint. The second way is along forest roads to the Other Way waypoint, where one takes the rough path. The cache is about 1km from Parking and entails a climb of about 120m. Walking boots are recommended.

The cache is a small camouflaged tupperware container. It is about 10m from the cairn.

Update: We've since discovered a third Seefin - a foothill in the Galtees near cache GC6CBRP. This Seefin can see Seefin 2, but not Seefin 1. We think it can see a fourth Seefin in the Comeraghs. Totally mad!!
