Motivo de la Singularidad Aunque es un pino que no presenta unas dimensiones especialmente notables, su ubicación en un entorno muy urbanizado y en un lugar muy visible desde la avenida principal le otorgan cierto valor ornamental y paisajístico que merece la pena resaltar. Pinus pinea es objeto de municipio por la Ordenanza de Planificación, Uso y Protección de Zonas Verdes, Parques, Jardines y Defensa del Patrimonio Vegetal de Mijas. Se encuentra en una pequeña zona ajardinada en la confluencia de la calle Almería con la Avenida de España de la Urb. sitio de Calahonda. Junto al mismo crece también una palmera del género Washingtonia. Why the tree is so unique The tree is in a small garden area at the cross road of Almeria Street and Avenida de España in urbanization Sitio de Calahonda. Beside the tree is a Washingtonia palm tree. Even though the pine does not have particularly remarkable dimensions, its location in a highly urbanized environment and being very visible from the main road, gives the tree some ornamental and landscape value worth highlighting. Pinus Pinea is protected by the municipal Bylaws of Use and Protection of Green Areas, Parks, Heritage Gardens and Plant Defense of Mijas, since April 2009.
