This property used to be owned by Ralph Lanning and his wife. Mr Lanning had almost 100 concrete handmade statues in his nicely manicured yard. Familes would pull over and children would run throughout the statues playing like they were at at park, as Lanning never minded a visitor, and if he was home would give a self guided tour of all the statues. Lanning started in 1963, when he found his mission in creating statuary-based messages for anyone who would pay attention. Lanning passed away in 2009, a month within the death of his wife, Gretchen. He left behind his large collection of scupltures, hoping his garden would become a museum, but unfortunatly without a will his wishes were never recorded. There is just one statue left on this property and the rest were gifted to Missouri State University in 2010 with the help of the Kohler foundation and preservationist John Foster.
