CACHE: Small almost a micro container with only log. Please keep the log double bagged and replace open end down. Should be winter friendly. A hunter sits just behind the cemetery on private property south of the cemetery during deer season.
CEMETERY: The cemetery was established in the 1850's first as a private family resting place. The cemetery is cared for but it's been about 60 years since the last burial.
SCHOOL: Rock Valley School was established early in Lapeer's history, appearing on the 1863 map. School was held here for at least 100 years, one of the longest continuously running one room schools in Lapeer County. It was named for the area, plentiful of rocks and rolling hills. A town never was established and the school often was used for church and funeral services. Story goes, one day a grave was being dug and the workers had left for lunch. The kids were outside during a break and a few decided to take a look under the lid. The teacher reported perfect attendance by the students for the rest of the day, with no one needing to take breaks until class was released for the day. Today the foundation remains in the woods next to the cemetery, easily seen from the cemetery, but the school was moved across to the farm on the northwest corner to be used as a playhouse. The school is best seen from Brocker Road looking north, it's private property. See attached photo.
