Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are for the Post Office. The cache is NOT in or next to the building but it's a good starting place to gather the necessary information. The cache is a short drive from the Post Office. A selection of vintage and current stamps for the first finders. BYOP.

This cache series was originally developed by Maryland cacher MDSurveyor with the cache P.O. Box – Bel Air in April 2008. In 2011, fastflyer imported the concept to Southern California with P.O. Box - Thousand Oaks.Zdonb, foon, monkeydogfish/chloboo, and NakoTacoPatrol soon followed suit with P.O. Box geocaches of their own in the Los Angeles area.

To date, MDSurveyor's bookmark list contains 163 P.O. Box caches around the world . I contacted him and, with his kind permission and help, am continuing the concept to include Walteria, CA with a twist.

In keeping with the post office theme, this is a letterbox hybrid geocache containing a hand carved rubber stamp and logbook. Letterboxing is an outdoor "treasure hunt" game which pre-dates the GPS system and involves navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry. Letterboxers imprint their personal stamps in the cache logbook, and use the letterbox stamp in their own personal notebooks as a record of their visit. Please leave the P.O. Box Walteria stamp and ink pad in the cache.

Most of the P.O. Box geocaches use a (Grid:Row:Column) system, from the original P.O. Box - Bel Air cache, to identify which P.O. boxes you need to find. This puzzle uses a slightly different counting method which was invented by Monkeydogfish. You still need to find several boxes, but rather than a Grid:Row:Column number I'll give you a starting box and then some directions to get to the box you're looking for.

North = Up, South = Down, West = Left, East = Right.

e.g. "start at 100, go South 1, East 1" would mean find box 100, and count one box down, and one box to the right to find the new number.

ABCD: start at 10429, go North 2, East 3

EFGH: start at 1276, go South 2, West 1

IJKL: start at 1225, go North 2, West 4

MNOP: start at 1492, go S 2, E 2

The final cache location is:

N AB° GK.NBL W EIH° FJ.MJD

The P.O. Box lobby is open 24 hours a day.
