We do a fair bit of camping out in this area and have enjoyed the numerous geocaches in the area. But the lack of caches on the big island at Brazeau Reservoir has always baffled us. So we decided to remedy this by placing a few traditional caches on the island on a recent camping trip to the area.
All caches on the island are winter friendly, and are decent sized to allow for tradables. We would not suggest leaving any trackables or geocoins here though, as the site likely won't see more than a few cachers each year. Summer access is by boat only. Winter access has a few more options. However, we would encourage people to use caution when crossing the reservoir in the winter, as the water levels drop significantly over the winter months as water is pumped out of this reservoir to keep the power plant running in the east canal / reservoir. With relatively poor cell reception in the area, we would suggest that you only attempt these caches with a caching buddy.
We hope that you enjoy your walk around the island. Photos are optional but always appreciated.
