This cache is hidden at a popular viewpoint along the B4391 road running between Llan Ffestiniog and Bala. The viewpoint has beautiful far reaching views over Cwm Cynfal and the Afon Cynfal below. This is one of my favourite places to stop and enjoy the view and so, this is the reason for me bringing you to find this cache. The cache is placed somewhere around the perimeter of the carpark (the side adjacent to the road).
The cache could be done as a drive-by, however there are some lovely walks starting from here and you could head over to nearby Llyn Morwynion (Lake of the Maidens). A lake steeped in Welsh folklore, where, according to the Mabinogion, Blodeuwedd and the maidens of Ardudwy fled the wizard Gwydion and the men of Gwynedd. All but Blodeuwedd reputedly drowned in the lake. The terrain locally is quite challenging if you are thinking of going for a walk. However, if you are just stopping for the views and to tick this cache off your list, the car park area itself is flat and so it is suitable for kids, dogs, pushchairs etc. The cache is a small plastic container containing a log book only. It is too small for other items. Please place the cache back exactly as you found it and ensure it is properly closed. Enjoy the fine views!
