The Church
The main structure of this church is thought to date from the 13th century building on this site consisting of a nave and chancel but has been updated and altered several times since then. The most notable (and most extensive) was in 1872 which was funded by the son of Crawshay Bailey - a renowned industrialist who was very active in South Wales making iron, building railways and canals, and coal mining until his death in 1872.
Inside there are some interesting wall memorials and stained glass. In the churchyard is a rather nice yew and medieval cross but of particular note in the top left-hand corner is the grave of the aforementioned Ironmaster Crawshay Bailey set under a red granite pillar.
The Cache
A micro-sized cache just outside the church grounds placed for an easy find. Careful parking can be found right next to the church wall by the gated entrance, but I have also waypointed a car parking area just the other side of the Llanfoist road which is a short 100 yard walk to the church. This is the better option but you do need to cross the road. The cache site is slightly overlooked so stealth is recommended.
