The fortress on Cape Dolosman was founded by Greek colonists in the 7th century BC under the name of Orgame. This is the earliest settlement in Romania mentioned in a written record: Orgame, polis near the Istros, by Hecatheus of Milet. During the Roman age it receives the name of Argamum and continues its existance until the 7th century AD. It was probably abandoned when the migrators started to knock at the gates and the Argamon gulf got separated from the Black Sea.
The ruins of the fortress are 7 km from Jurilovca village. Cape Dolosman is the only rocky seafront on the Romanian Coast offering amazing panoramic views over the country's largest natural lake.
