Globe Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) The Globe Artichoke is a perennial thistle originating in southern Europe. The flowers develop in a large head from an edible bud about 3-6 inch-diameter with numerous triangular scales; the individual florets are purple.
Sugar Notch Ridgetop Trail is a 3.06 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Wilkes-Barre, PA that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from March until October. The Trail is located on Earth Conservancy land, and this cache is placed in accordance with their rules & regulations. Use of the land is permitted from sunrise to sunset. Hunting is permitted in this area, so please wear orange during hunting season! We decided to do the A, B, C’s of flowers, each cache will represent a unique flower. Caches were placed right off of the trails. The cache containers are various camo covered pill bottles. There are 24 caches in all. Only the first cache has a FTF prize. The last cache is placed at the eastern trailhead, near the Greater Hanover Area Recreation Park BYOP and as always CITO. Happy caching....
