This cache is a few minutes walk from the car park, along the Tor Trail. You could almost do it as a cache and dash. The cache itself cannot be removed from where it's attached, but you should be able to extract the log from the hiding place. Please try to leave the cache container hidden as best as possible.
Calderglen Country Park was once part of the Calderwood and Torrance Country Estates. The current house was built in 1605 by Robert Hamilton, although there was a previous building here dating back to 1570.
Nowadays, it has a children’s zoo, tropical glasshouse, ornamental gardens, nature trails/walks, the Courtyard Café, an 18 hole golf course, as well as a brand new children’s playpark (opened April 2016). The nature walks take you through a wooded glen, or down by the Rotten Calder river. There are over 5km of paths in the glen, some of which feature waterfalls and the northern part of the park is a Geological Site of Special Scientific Interest.
There are a few other caches in this park, including 3 of my own that can be done in a loop.
