Questo luogo è stato riconosciuto come Monumento Naturale perché ricco di giacimenti paleontologici, risalenti al Triassico Superiore. I ritrovamenti effettuati sono di grande interesse e di rilevanza mondiale. Questa splendida valletta, poco antropizzata, si sviluppa lungo il corso del torrente Brunone ed offre al visitatore la possibilità di fare escursioni naturalistiche, e di scoprire angoli pittoreschi ed inaspettati. Tra questi scenari ecco la Sorgente Solforosa.

La storia di questa sorgente la trovate su un pannello divulgativo a pochi passi da GZ.
Ma due parole le possiamo spendere: nel 1850 Luigi Pellegrini, medico di Capizzone, scopre la fonte nella frazione di Ponte Giurino e nel 1853 questa viene aperta al pubblico.
Dai 60 litri all'ora, portata della scoperta, si è passati alle poche gocce dei giorni nostri.
Geologicamente questo processo di solfatazione avviene quando l'acqua attraversa le rocce nerastre denominate Argillite di Riva di Solto, ma chiamate dal volgo locale "rinada"
Poco lontano da qui, nella valle adiacente, c'è un'altra sorgente solforosa, dove già ho messo una cache (GC6B98M) e dove potete trovare la descrizione delle proprietà di questa acqua.
La differenza tra questo sito e l'altro, è l'aspetto paesaggistico. Qui una splendida passeggiata, tavoli e panchine. Nell'altra la distruzione e la sconsolatezza di due frane che hanno devastato il territorio. E l'assenza di volonta al recupero.
Ma siamo qui e parliamo di questa cache.
Anche qui il GPS serve a poco. Arrivate in fondo in fondo.
Portate una bottiglia vuota. Mentre cercate la cache (o aspettate che i babbani se ne vadano) raccogliete la preziosa acqua.

This place has been recognized as a Natural Monument because rich paleontological deposits, dating from the Late Triassic. The discoveries made are of great interest and global significance. This beautiful valley, just built up, spread along the Brunone stream and offers the visitor the chance to make excursions and to discover picturesque and unexpected corners.
