Geocache Description:

Tarbert village is the gateway to the Kingdom of Kerry on its Northern Frontier. The Square (which isn't really a square btw) is the centre of all movement into and out of the Town.

The cache is a magnetic micro placed at a point of interest in the square which was created pre the Great  Atlantic Way. Points of interest in the square are the Marian shrine and the old hotel which is now a hostel. On New Year's Eve just before midnight ,the people of the town march through the square with torches of lighting turf on pikes, thus preserving an ancient tradition .. It is always a memorable evening followed by the entire community holding hands and singing auld langsyne and fireworks . happy caching 😀 BYOP.
