This is a homemade cache, tweezers and a pen will be required. Roquefort, known in France as the King of cheeses is a blue cheese made from sheeps milk from the south of France. Similar cheeses are produced elsewhere, but EU law dictates only cheese aged in the natural caves of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon can bear the name Roquefort. The cheese is white, tangy, crumbly and slightly moist with distinctive veins of blue mold. Legend has it the cheese was discovered when a youth , eating his lunch of bread and ewes milk, saw a beautiful girl in the distance. Abandoning his meal in a nearby cave he ran to meet her. When he returned months later, the mold (penicillium roqueforti) had transformed his plain cheese into Roquefort. It's not to everyone's taste, but sitting on a Brittany beach with a beer and a baguette it can't be beaten.
