Drumtochty forest has a great figure of eight walk for the keen walkers amongst us or just an afternoon stroll. The starting point is the large car park then just follow the path up into the forest it is a bit of a steep incline for the start of the walk. The walk heads up to the old mill pond and around on forest paths and steps at some parts (can be muddy). Drumtochty forest connects onto Fettereso Forest . The walks are no longer waymarked except for an occasional cycle one the cycle trail is around(17km/10.5 mile ).
A large Sitka spruce grows 60m down the main road from the car park,it is one of the oldest ones in Scotland, planted in 1832. In 2015 the tree measured 54.5 meters in height.
