If you've hiked the South Yuba Trail from the campground heading East, you probably saw the sign saying "Overlook Point Picnic Site." And if you've taken that side trail, you probably saw the picnic tables. What you probably didn't see was Overlook Point. The trail goes down, and down, and down, but no Overlook. At least not until now.
With a little brush clearing, an old trail to the right (now well marked with rocks) became evident that does, indeed, lead to an Overlook.
Maybe not a five-star Overlook, but at least a three. And it's a nice addition to a great trail along the Wild and Scenic South Yuba River.
