This cache is dedicated to cachers homesick for the 'Old Country'.
The real Scafell Pike in the Lake District is the highest point in all of England at altitude 978m.
As you sign this cache log, you will be standing at the same altitude although this is a less demanding climb, as reflected in the terrain rating.
Having scaled Scafell Pike on 10 August 2016 with Sherpa Sarah, (my daughter), I know a little of how Ed Hillary must have felt when he also stood on the highest point in a different country, albeit at a slightly higher altitude and terrain rating!
Scafell Pike will undoubtedly be the only national summit I'll ever reach and this cache will be a personal reminder of having "knocked the bastard off". Unfortunately I don't think there will be a knighthood on offer for our achievement.
The cache is a small pill bottle with an orange lid and containing only a plastic paper log. Bring your own pen and please replace the cache carefully as found.
