Geocache Description:

Cache 2 of 7 that will make up the Thornley Crossing Trail. This will border Shotton Colliery and Wheatley Hill.

The Cache is placed at a place Shotton/Wingate/Wheatley Hill Folk know as 'Thornley Crossings.'  Thornley is indeed a few miles away but this junction use to be where the Hartlepool to Sunderland line seperated off the main line and headed west over to Thornley for the transportation of coal to Sunderland, Hartlepool and Middlesbrough.  It is now an industrial estate.
