Nighthawky Cache Series #2- Stick in a Spruce Traditional Cache

One of joys of adult recreational hockey, aside from the really prime ice times, is watching your team morph into a flock of geocachers, and watching your close friends struggle while tackling tough hides together. The Nighthawkey Cache Series will introduce you to some of our favorite arenas in the city. While you’re in the area, listen closely! Legend tells that between 10pm and 12am, you may here the distant cry of a Nighthawk struggling to get her hockey bag back in the car.

If a Nighthawk had to make her nest somewhere specific, Don Hartman North East Sportsplex would be a top contender. Named after the 33^rd mayor of Calgary, Don Hartman, who served in public office from 1969 to 1989, the arena has two ice surfaces and a confusing series of dressing rooms which are never quite big enough for everyone. This cache operated with a working title of Piece of Stick in a Tree, and GMMK and ROM got so attached to it, they couldn’t bring themselves to change it too much. So. This cache does not have a hint, but we think you’ll do just fine.

GMMK Field Notes: Please don’t remove the stick from where it is fastened to. The log sheet can be extracted from the top end. Update: This cache has been adjusted a wee bit so the log sheet stays dry. But it's still a stick in a tree.
