Geocache Description:

One of joys of adult recreational hockey, aside from the really prime ice times, is watching your team morph into a flock of geocachers, and watching your close friends struggle while tackling tough hides together. The Nighthawkey Cache Series will introduce you to some of our favorite arenas in the city. While you’re in the area, listen closely! Legend tells that between 10pm and 12am, you may here the distant cry of a Nighthawk struggling to get her hockey bag back in the car.

Once upon a time, in a land called Calgary, RachofMotion and GeoMarlsMK joined a hockey team. As fate would have it, it was the same hockey team. They both survived a chaotic inaugural practice on this very ice surface, and left questioning their most recent life choices, but persevered. The season went on- they became defence line partners, friends, and ultimately Geocaching buddies. Which is perfect, because GeoMarlsMK is one of those people you call when you need a friend to bail you out, and RachOfMotion is one of those people who accidentally gets incarcerated.

GMMK Field notes: One of the last & most challenging geocaches of the series to hide for ROM & myself. Much work went into finding an area that hadn’t already been claimed by one of the many other GCs in this area. Planted late at night, we came across two Canadian geese & two baby beavers (ok, they may have been muskrats) down along the canal. We found it very fitting that these pairs were spotted at our hockey friendship themed cache. Keep an eye out for wildlife while you are in the area.
