Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The Cooley Cemetery Trail is a one-way seven mile trek (fourteen miles round trip). It is a shared hiking and equestrian trail. The trail may deteriorate quickly with rain and heavy horse traffic. Terrain variations of 250 feet should be expected. The majority of the trail runs adjacent to the lake with scenic vistas, especially in winter months. Dress accordingly as mud may be deep in spots and could take your boots. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trail.
Please be considerate and show proper equestrian etiquette to horse and riders on the trail. Step aside, off the trail until they pass. No sudden movements to avoid spooking the horse. When hiking with a dog, they should be on a leash or held by the collar. The trailhead is across the road from the gravel parking area at the Cave Mountain Small Wild Area. Parking coordinates are provided. Use the crosswalk to access the trail.
I can only say that it appears camping has occurred here, but I don't know if it is legal/permitted. The posted coordinates can be reached by trail or by boat; the terrain rating given is by trail to match the others in the area. They will place you in the vicinity of the ruins of an old rock chimney. You will need to mark your own coordinates for the chimney, then proceed 61.5 meters at a bearing of 134 degrees to locate the camouflaged preform container.
When you locate the final container, please take the extra couple of minutes necessary to carefully open and close the lid and securely replace the log and container to preserve it for future geocachers who may also put in the required effort to hunt this cache. I hope you enjoy it and please let me know of any issues.
