Geocache Description:

This geocache is located at one of several "northern suburbs" of the “Lost City of Volvon,” a significant Native American site in the Morgan Territory area. The Lost City and its suburbs have well over 1000 mortar holes, which were used by members of the Volvon tribe of Bay Miwok Indians to grind acorns and other food items.

For additional details on the Lost City, see the Lost City of Volvon geocache.

This is an interesting site, because it appears that the native residents constructed a long groove in the large slab of rock here. This may be merely a natural phenomenon, but it seems too long and straight for that. There are also at least ten mortar holes with 50 feet of the slab, mostly to the north.

Note that there is some poison oak in the cache area -- be careful.

Come and enjoy this great site, but PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB, HARM OR REMOVE any Native American items, as they are strictly protected by federal and state laws.
