The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by
many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of
paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have
‘walked’ before
us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities
across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The
cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries,
tombstones and local lore.
NOT to be confused with TSQ #169, which is ALSO for a Kimbro Cemetery. That one is in Williamson County (and is not too far away); this one is in Travis County. There are 73 interments here at this Anglo-Scando-German site, ranging from 1900 to 2009. Members of the Anderson, Carlson, Gustafson, Johnson, Lind, Peterson, and Swenson families, among sundry others, have been laid to rest here. The two Abrahamsons both died on Oct. 13, 1919, aged 19 and 8 years respectively.
The grounds are rather casually laid out directly by the roadside and are unfenced, but in a pretty good state of repair. The headstones seem to be mostly intact--cattle may not have been run through here at any time. There is a historical marker, along with adequate parking. As always, any refinements to the
listed coordinates are
welcomed.
