Route 6 (6N06) from here south is no longer paved but will take you deeper into the forest, past more cool caches: Wildfire, Quercus Giganteum, By Foot or By Mule AND all the way to Hyampom. Make sure you have planty of gas, water, maybe some food, a jacket, & flashlight (well, you never know). You can even camp (that is what I did). BUT, don’t forget a campfire permit. It will be a long drive but I am telling you…It will be worth it!
I really suggest you bring a forest map with you. You can get one here http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/srnf/maps-pubs. You will not have cell coverage in most of this area.
