Geocache Description:

Kalgoorlie ANZAC 101 Series

The 101st anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign occurred on 25 April 2016 and commemorated a defining moment in the history of both Australia and New Zealand.  As a half Aussie half Kiwi caching team we decided to place this series along Anzac Drive to celebrate the friendship and special relationship between our two countries.

Each of the caches in this series contains one ingredient written on the back of the logbook or at the start of the log.  Collect each measurement and ingredient and you will not only have a great recipe for ANZAC cookies, you'll be able to solve the final puzzle!

Ataturk

Mustafa Kemal was given command of all Ottoman forces from Chunuk Bair to Suvla Bay.  His superb grasp of strategy and ability to inspire troops proved decisive in the victory over the Allies at Gallipoli.  When Turkey became a republic in 1923, Kemal became the first president.  He led the country for the next 15 years, accepting the title of "Ataturk" (Father of the Turks) in 1934.  As good as he was in war, he was also a great peacemaker and is an immortal hero to his people.  Source: awm.gov.au
