This Cache is placed as part of the 2016 New York State Park Saratoga/Capital District Regional Geocache Challenge. There are 76 geocaches hidden within 18 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, and geocachers finding 40 or more will be eligible to receive a commemorative, unique, and trackable geocoin. The first 100 people to find 40 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. This cache is placed in the Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort, NY. The site is open from sunrise to sunset daily. During the summer months a vehicle use fee is charged when entering the main park area. There are many outlying areas of the park that a fee is not charged for use. Please check out the park website for a map and park information. You do not have to pay to get into the park to find any of the Moreau Lake caches, just park at the Spier Falls Road Parking Lot N 43°14.794’ W073°43.564’ at the Mud Pond Pull Off N 43°14.765’ W073°42.695’or at the Sherman Island Boat Launch N 43°14.945’ W073°44.320’ .
Welcome to Moreau Lake State Park! From the Philosophy Rock cache, continue on the Western Ridge Trail (yellow markers) until you reach the Eastern Ridge Trail (blue markers) – this juncture is marked #13 on the Moreau Lake State Park Trail map. Follow the Eastern Ridge Trail until you turn right onto the Lake Ann Trail (lavender markers). The cache is located about 500 feet down the trail, and a short distance off the trail. Enjoy!
