Brief History of St Andrew's Church
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Kuala Lumpur begins some years before there actually was a church. Presbyterian worship services were inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur in 1902 while approval from the Presbytery of London North to establish a church in Kuala Lumpur in 1910.
In 1915, the Congregation applied to the government for a piece of land located in a thickly wooded hillside for a church on a site which was then known as Weld Road (now Jalan Raja Chulan). The Foundation Stone was laid by Rev. W. Cross of Singapore on Oct. 3, 1917 and the church was opened for public worship in 1918. Japanese troops invaded Malaya in 1941 and St. Andrew’s Church was sadly looted. The organ pipes, books, Bibles, hymnals, and various worship items were stolen or destroyed. The Wesley Methodist Church nearby persuaded the Japanese to took over the building for regular worship and this prevented further destruction to the church.
The church was taken back by the Presbyterian congregation in 1946. In 1955, the stained-glass window was and is dedicated to the church members who died in the two World Wars while the pipe organ was restored.
Back to the geocache
Being a Sunday, Clark Ken and his girlfriend Louise Lane was at St Andrew"s Presbyterian Church to attend an international church service. As it was early, the car park has just opened and Clark parked his car and went into the Church to look at the famous Handmade organ. Louise went across the road to the edge of the jungle to pluck a few wild flowers.
Suddenly Louise screamed as someone has snatched flowers and ran off. Clark ran off to the phone booth to take a super power pill and change his costume to change into a superhero. Oh no, the booth has been stolen. How is he going to get his superpower pill? Help him to locate his pill bottle. The pill bottle is a small glass bottle.
The Geocache
The Geocache is located outside the church compound. You do need need to go into the church compound or the jungle.
