The King's Bridge or as it is more affectionately known the Swing Bridge, was built in 1911 to commemorate the coronation of George V. It replaced an earlier crossing. The King's Bridge links the communities of Llandeilo and Ffairfach and is a popular route for walkers who want to enjoy the open countryside. It was particularly popular as a link to the Golf links above Ty Gwyn.
The bridge has been repaired on many occasions but Llandeilo Fawr Town Council campaigned for work to be undertaken and local county councillors championed this campaign until Carmarthenshire Council eventually agreed to undertake the work and source grants etc.
This project proved to be the last project undertaken by Eirain James, the Manager of the countryside Unit based in Tumble and he was delighted when the work was completed. Eirian remarked to County Councillor Edward Thomas "that he was determined to see this bridge repaired and was looking forward to the official opening". Sadly this was not to be as Eirian passed away in early 2014. However Llandeilo Town Council invited his widow and children to be present when the communities of Llandeilo and Dyffryn Cennen under their respective Mayor and Chairman officially opened the bridge
