Bakoven Bay View

The cache, a camo-taped, flip-top dispensing pot, is hidden at the side of - and almost half-way along - the wonderful Pipe Track which runs for about 7km from Kloof Nek to Slangolie Ravine (round trip ~4 hours). The trail continues another for another 15 minutes before splitting left up the next (Corridor) ravine or right around a buttress and up the following steep Oudekraal Ravine.
There are numerous other caches either on the Pipe Track or nearby on side routes - around 20 at the last count, so it is a geocachers' dream trail - lots of caches, easy access, safe hiking (not on your own of course!) and stunning views thoughout.
The cache location has fine views to the west overlooking Bakoven and Bakoven Bay, a small sheltered beach bay between Camps Bay and Llandudno. The name is of Dutch origin and means 'baking oven', possibly after an off-shore rock of that shape. The views to the east are of the impressive butresses, cliffs and steep gorges of the 12 Apostles - the chain of peaks running along the length of Table Mountain on its western side. The 'apostle' closest to the cache site is Porcupine Buttress.
