It's the 13th Annual Geocaching World Wide Flash Mob! A fun and friendly way to promote geocaching around the world. Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events spanning the globe, gathering at the same time. It is also National Trails Day, so let's take a little hike on a trail to see some endangered flowers that should still have a few blooms. This is something a little different, and hopefully more entertaining than just showing up somewhere easy. Notice the terrain rating for this event, it may be difficult for some cachers to accomplish. In the event of bad weather we may make alternate plans.
IMPORTANT: Event starts at NOON Central at the nearby parking coordinates which are: N 33° 17.434 W 086° 51.582. We will then walk/hike to the listed coordinates to sign a log and take a group photo. This is NOT EASY. This process will take 30 minutes. (Exceptions will be granted for physically limited cachers who are at the parking coordinates.) This will include a hike of just over 2 miles round trip. 80% of the hike is really just a walk down a paved rails-to-trails railroad bed. But that last 20% has a couple of steep hills with dirt and gravel.
