A series of 12 caches around Wardy Hill, a small settlement between Witcham and Coveney. It is a walk of approx 6km (4 miles), some of which is on roads. The roads are quiet but the usual care should be taken. Only in the Fens would it be called a hill, but the ground does rise to over 10m in the centre of the village. Despite the title the walk has barely any hill climbing and no tree climbing.
There are a mixture of caches, ranging from small, that can take TB's, to the very small (nano). Tweezers are essential, and you should bring gloves and some kind of writing implement. A lot of the logs are of water and tear proof paper.
The circuit overlaps the excellent Witcham Walkabout series, and you will pass #6 and #7 of that series along the way.
The caches also vary in difficulty. Some are very easy, others will take a bit of searching. Parts of the route are on droves which are used by farm vehicles and can be muddy over winter and after rain. There are plenty of nettles and thorns so shorts and flip flops are not recommended.
The walk will take you near to Coveney Byall Fen, a new wetland area constructed by the Enviroment Agency. We hope you will take the opportunity to have a look although it is currently a bit bare. The caches are all outside the site.
Coordinates were set using an iPhone and way point averaging on a Garmin 650. Tree cover may affect some of the readings.
Parking is available at the car park for the new wetland area.
