Geocache Description:

This is another cache based in or around one of the most important structures in a community… the library.

To find this cache all you have to do is go to the coordinates and locate a plaque. The plaque will provide you information to help you solve for a library of congress call number. This call number will help you locate the geocache that’s hidden in the stacks of the Cannon Memorial Library. This cache is NOT available 24/7 please check the calendar before you make a special trip over (Library Hours).

Now the Cannon Memorial Library, like many other academic institutions, organize their books by the Library of Congress Classification method. This method provides its patrons with a greater variety of specificity compared to its public library counterpart called the Dewey Decimal Classification. Both classification systems help our users locate the materials of their choice

At the coordinates answer the following questions:

  • When is the earliest year that this time capsule can be opened? AAAA – 857 = &&&&
  • When’s the latest year the capsule can be opened? BBBB – 2014 = $$
  • In what year was this time capsule erected? CCCC + 33 = @@@@

Find the answers to the symbols and place them in the call number. photo geocachecallnumber2_zps8kqoqrhz.jpg

You may find the book somewhere on the 2nd floor of the library, in the main circulating collection.

Happy hunting and if you have any questions, never hesitate to ask a reference librarian.
