Geocache Description:

A meet-and-greet event for those geocachers who like to do things a little differently!

Last year, this event went on the road. This year … it’s baaaaaaaaaaack!

Welcome to the land where we do things just a tad differently. How, you may ask? Well, this event is kind of nuts, so to speak. There are some nutty geocachers out there, so it’s how it goes.

This event has morphed into a bunch of different things. It started with meeting at 1 a.m., then it got a little earlier, but still nutty. So… let’s try it here. I want to take this event to different spots and try it, so I figured this was as good of a time as any!

As with the others I’ve done, this is a simple no-frills meet-and-greet event.

Some of last year's group in Maryland.

In the past, here are our numbers:

  • 2012 (GC3YR3D - Oneonta, NY): 14
  • 2013 (GC4NK84 - Oneonta, NY): 18
  • 2014 (GC57QNK - Oneonta, NY): 7
  • 2015 (GC5TXDA - Hagerstown, MD): 100
  • 2016 (Oneonta, NY): ???

I know we won’t be breaking any records from last year (which I did during Geowoodstock weekend), but maybe we can break our local record? Only time will tell.

Here’s hoping for decent weather at least!

Please let us know you are coming. Hopefully it will be a fun and successful event. So why do this event?

Why not?

  • Have you ever stopped working on things to fly out the door for an FTF?
  • How many times have you decided one more… one more … one more … as it gets dark, and before you know it, it’s 10 p.m. or later?
  • And if you get the sweats when you go a week or two without a cache… well…
  • Have you ever been in the woods well past midnight, seeking that one cache?

If any of these fit you, you’ll likely enjoy this event.

This is a 1/1 event. There’s pavement. It’s not, however, simple for those who go to bed early!

Why?

It’s at 11:55 p.m.!

Let’s be honest, too, it’s not really kid friendly being the little ones should be in bed already. If you are asleep by 10, this isn’t for you, either. But if you are looking for a nightly fix… come to this event!

And the beauty is, if you are coming into the area early for the big events later this weekend, stop here, get a smiley and maybe swap a few items.

Time to see how many nutty folks will check it out.

Yes, your bed may be calling. And, yes, you may not want to come out.

But can you resist?

We’ll see you there.

Note: This is a normal meet-and-greet. No frills, no nothing. I'll be there, at a minimum, from 11:55 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Possibly a little longer, depending on who shows. But this event will run for a minimum of 30 minutes.
