Join us in City View Park from 9am-11am on July 16, 2016.
Look for us in one of the picnic shelters. All are welcome!



You might be wondering why this event is called the "Opening Ceremony". Well...you're going to have to come by and find out. During the event, you will have the opportunity to swap geo-stories and trade TBs. We will also have a few door prizes! Oh, and there might be a little "surprise" for you shortly after the event closes.


EVENT INFORMATION (assuming the surprise doesn't publish until 11):

1. You are welcome to show up as early as 9am.

2. GPS USERS - if you want coordinates for the surprise to be downloaded into your GPS, there will be a GPS drop off table at the event. Please drop your GPS off by 10am. At the drop off, we will have some blue painters tape. Please take a piece of tape, write your NAME and GPS MODEL (etrex 30, Oregon 650, etc.) on that piece of tape, and attach it to your GPS. At around 10, I will break away from the event to a spot nearby (you will be able to see me if this worries you) and download the surprise into everyone's GPS. When I'm done with that, the GPS's will be put into a LOCKED ammo can. The ammo can will be unlocked and everyone will get their GPS back at 10:59, just before the surprise publishes.

If you don't leave you GPS at the table by 10am, you will likely have to wait until AFTER the event to download the surprise.
If you are not planning on staying until 11, please do NOT drop off your GPS.

3. We will have a few door prizes. Very simple system - everyone will pick a card and we will announce the winning cards at about 10:30.

4. We will be providing a worksheet for the surprise. However, the worksheet will only be provided when the surprise publishes. NO EXCEPTIONS! The coordinates for the surprise will be provided on this worksheet if you decide not to have them downloaded.

5. IF YOU HAVE ANY/ALL OF THESE, CONSIDER BRINGING THEM: Bike, Kayak, Wherigo-Capable Device, Log-Retrieval Tool. Note, however, that you can still participate in the surprise without these items.
