Geocache Description:

Please do not indicate in your log when you find a hit!!

The Battleships in the series are:
GC6HGPE - Patrol Boat
GC6HGRE - Submarine
GC6HGRR - Cruiser
GC6HGW9 - Destroyer
GC6HGX6 - YOU SUNK OUR BATTLESHIP!!

Battleship History:
Historically, Battleship has been a guessing game played by two people. It is known throughout the world as a pencil and paper game and predates World War I in this form. It was invented by Clifford Von Wickler in the early 1900s, but he never patented the game and it was soon published by Milton Bradley Company in 1943 as the pad-and-pencil game "Broadsides, the Game of Naval Strategy". Later, the game became known simply as, "Battleship". In 1977 Milton Bradley released a computerized Electronic Battleship, followed in 1989 by Electronic Talking Battleship. Battleship is still being played today on pen/paper, board games, cell phone Apps and even geocaching!

Battleship Geocaching Game:
In Battleship, there are 5 ships of various sizes hidden on a 10 x 10 grid (100 total grid locations). We have hidden 4 ships (Patrol Boat, Submarine, Cruiser, Destroyer) that you will need to find to get the coordinates to sink our Battleship. Each grid location is identified by a letter (E,J,K,N,Q,U,V,X,Y,Z) and a number (1-10). Similar to the Battleship board game - you are seeking to find geocaches at each grid location but also discovering HITS and ultimately collecting coordinates to solve each ship's puzzle cache. There are only 13 HITS in the entire game grid. Game grid caches are all magnetic key boxes and will be 1-2 difficulty and 1-2 terrain. The MISS will have nothing written in the container and a HIT will give you a number to be used but you will have to figure out what boat you have hit.

Don't forget to write down the partial coordinates!!

Please be safe doing this series, some caches you will be able to park beside others please find safe parking and walk to the cache. All grid location caches are designed to be park and grabs, so please be mindful of traffic.
