The new Third Avenue Bridge over the railway in Mount Lawley was opened to traffic on Saturday 14 May 2016. The concrete bridge has a single span of about 22 m. It has been built to meet current safety standards and has no weight restrictions. Twice as wide as the old timber bridge built in 1910, it includes a second lane eastbound to separate traffic turning left and right onto Whatley Crescent and improve traffic flow at peak periods.
