One of a series of historically themed caches along the Withlacoochee State Trail. Camo'd waterproof plastic gear box with log and trade items. BYO pen.
This cache is located amid four concrete bases that supported a large cantilever signal that directed train traffic through this one-bustling railroad hub (see photos). Croom Junction was a "Wye" or Y-shaped intersection where the main line (now the Withlacoochee State Trail) connected with a spur that took passengers and freight ten miles west to Brooksville (now the Good Neighbor Trail). 1000 feet north of this cache near the white fence sat the Croom Depot and a bit farther up on the west of the trail you can still see the remnants of the southern part of the Wye (now a horse trail) as it curves westward toward Brooksville.
